((ARGH!!!!  So much for that last remark I made about being online...  I'm actually going to be online for a while now, and I now have inspiration to give an actual "TF2-y" reason for Medic not being here.))

"Sentry down!"

"AAAHH!"

"Incoming!"

"The robots have overridden our defenses!"

"We've lost it, lads!"

"Retreat!"

It had been a long and bloody battle, and the Mercs had bitten off more than they could chew this time.  Both the RED and BLU Team's surviving members ran for the underground hidden shelter, the robots pouring in from what seemed like everywhere.  Once everyone was inside and the BLU Soldier had closed and locked the sturdy door, the party collapsed out of exhaustion.  "Ah, bloody hell!" cried out the RED Demoman, who was leaning against the wall.  "I couldn't have said it better," commented Raven, "Was it just me, or did they have reinforcements?"  "I have never seen so many tiny robots in one place," said the BLU Heavy, dusting off Sasha in a caring manner.  The RED Spy stood up slightly wearily; even he was tired.  "We should go to the Respawn room," he said, "Just to make sure that we really have everyone here."  F.G. nodded and stood up as well, her insect wings fluttering a bit in anticipation.  "You're right," she agreed, "Come on, we need to go."  Everyone complied slowly, standing up and helping each other onto their feet.  The BLU Heavy picked up the unconscious body of a RED Scout, and Raven helped a limping BLU Engineer along as they made their way to the Respawn.

.  .  .

The blast door of the Respawn opened, revealing the rest of both teams there.  "Oh, zhere you are!" said the BLU Medic, "Ve vere getting vorried."  "You were worried?" asked F.G., almost not being able to hold back an incredulous smile.  "Hudda huh!" said the RED Pyro, "Mf hud mffa hudda!  Mff hudda hmff huh?"  He/She gave the thumbs-up sign.  No one could hold back a grin this time.  As the friends chatted a bit, talking about the battle and what'd happened, the BLU Soldier was taking a head count.  When he finished, Raven didn't need to see the upper half of his face to know that something was wrong.  She had already noticed something from the start.  "Sir?" she asked, stepping toward the helmeted man.  "Where's the RED Medic?"  He shook his head slowly.  "Not here, Private," he said.  T.G., who had heard the question and the answer, stepped beside Raven.  "Don't tell me he's still out there," she said, a worried look on her face.  Raven shook her head quickly.  "Not possible," she stated, "I saw him take a headshot by a Robo-Sniper about two thirds of the way through the battle.  He should be here."  Raven suddenly turned her head in the direction of the Respawn machine, her keen ears picking up a sound.  "Wait a second..." she said, walking towards the sound.  F.G. followed her as she crouched on the ground, her eyes closed in concentration for a moment.  Then Raven's eyes snapped open and looked at a nick in the wall, one that could be easily overlooked.  She punched that section of the wall, and surprisingly her fist went right through it.  By now, more than just F.G. had taken notice of Raven, and were watching curiously.  Her hand grabbed something, and she pulled it out of the wall and stood up.  More than one gasp was heard as people saw what it was.  It was a Sapper.  And it had been sapping the Respawn.  All eyes turned to the two Spies who were sitting in a corner of the room, and Raven, who was starting to get a bit angry, stalked over to the duo and slammed the Sapper on the table between them with a bang, giving both of them ice-cold stares.  "What," said Raven through gritted teeth, "In the name of 2Fort is this?"  The BLU Spy shook his head, staring at the sapper in confusion.  "Madame, this is not one of mine," he said.  "And neither is it mine," agreed the RED one, "This is robot-made.  It is not marked by red or blue symbols."  Raven looked at the Sapper on the table more closely; the Spy was right.  She clenched her fists and made a sharp intake of breath, closing her eyes as if to attempt to block out the situation.  "Does that mean-?" She couldn't finish the statement.  "I'm sorry," said the RED Sniper, taking off his hat and hardly able to say it himself.  "He's gone."
